Efterpi Soropos, a Melbourne visual artist, has created Human Rooms, an immersive audio-visual therapy space for people nearing the end. Since training at NIDA in the 1980s Efterpi Soropos has created lighting designs for theatre productions around Australia, made her own installations and taught at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Efterpi Soropos is an artist and designer with a background in performing arts design. Efterpi became passionate about creating space and artistic experiences for the dying and vulnerable after the personal experience of losing her mother to breast cancer in 1995, a process which both devastated and enlightened her. Human Rooms is the name artist/designer Efterpi Soropos gave to the concept of the immersive artworks she has developed for therapeutic purposes for patients, families, carers and staff in acute health environments.
